The majority of our flights are scheduled IFR to various destinations within the Fiji Islands, using Twin Otter, Islander and Queenair aircraft.
As there are several Resort Islands in close proximity to our Nadi base, we also have a high-frequency VFR shuttle operation. The shortest of these flights is approximately 8 minutes. These flights are generally serviced by Islander aircraft, but during the busy season Twin Otters are also used to meet the increased demand.
The weather is generally great for flying, with lovely blue skies and absolutely fantastic scenery. There are some times when it can be very demanding, especially during our wet season, with regular afternoon thunderstorms. Flying here is nonetheless very rewarding.
Most of our Line Pilots fly around 900-950 hours per year, and are generally rated for multiple aircraft. They may be rated on Islander, Twin Otter and Queenair aircraft, or a combination of other types. This increases the company's flexibility, as well as providing the pilots with variety and a chance to vary their destinations.
We have a great team at Sun Air and if you think you may like to join it, please check out the Company Requirements link from the previous page.
